- Turtles
There are approximately 356 species of turtles all around the globe. Several species of turtles are in the wild, yet some of them can be a pet that you can have. Considering the size of the turtle that grows up to nine or twelve inches is a perfect size of turtle that you might have. It can fit on a regular-sized terrarium. With regards to their diet, you don’t need to feed them every day. Turtles can eat only four to five times a week and most turtles normally eat insects, fish, and leafy greens. The best way to take care of a turtle is to maintain water temperature, keep the water clean and feed them consistently. This isn’t so hard to do, unlike other pets who need more attention. However, keep in mind that some turtles can live up to 30 years.
- Hermit Crab
If you don’t want to commit for a long time with turtles, you might get a hermit crab instead. Hermit crabs can live for up to 10 years and more with proper care and in suitable habitats. They can only grow up to 6 inches long. You must have a good terrarium with at least five gallons of space. Keep in mind that it should be out of direct sunlight. It must also consist of clean aquarium gravel or fine reptile bark bedding. Hermit crabs are not picky eaters, they are omnivores. However, you can give them small pellets or powdered food. They hunt plants and animals to eat. They also need a companion, it is best if they have a pair because they are social animals.
- Guinea pigs
If you are not interested in aquatic animals, Here is our little friend; Guinea pigs. If you want to have an adorable and cuddly guinea pig you can hold, you must have a guinea pig. Guinea pigs can live up to 10 years. They don’t need to sleep for a long period, rather they love to take short naps throughout the day and night. However, They need a supply of vitamin c because they can’t produce it themselves. You must give them a proper cage and bedding with a consistent supply of food and water.
- Hamster
Kids love to play with cuddly and cute creatures. A hamster is one of the cutest cuddly creatures that you can think of. Most of the time hamsters can do well on their own. However, they still need companionship and care from their pet parents. They love to play so it is a good idea if you build a maze for them to room around. You can also put a hamster ball as long as it is in a safe and secure area. You must give them enough food and fresh water as well as a proper cage. You can feed them small pieces of fruits and veggies. If you take care of them properly, they can live up to 3 years. Hamsters are nocturnal animals, they usually sleep during the day. Don’t bother them when they sleep, instead play with them in the late afternoon or the evening. Fun fact, Did you know that hamsters are smart animals? They can learn their name. If you call them often by their name, they might learn to come when called.
